What to expect...
A west coast tour celebrates the Dormie LA Workshop, which opened last year. SoCal is awesome, with breathtaking golf courses, palm trees, a laid-back vibe, gourmet food and high-end accommodation. The sun usually shines too.
A bespoke experience features an itinerary that is full, but not too full. It provides you with an opportunity to enjoy the hotel amenities and local restaurants as well as golf each day on some of the best courses SoCal has to offer. This will be serious fun, for lovers of the game. It’s a chance to relax, connect and walk away with memories that last a lifetime.
Hosted by Jeff Bishop (co-founder of Dormie Workshop) & Gavin Stewart (founder of TPG), this tour is limited to 16 people.
Day 1: Arrival Day
Arrive at Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach around 2pm. Check in. Get your bearings. Relax. Have a swim and enjoy the facilities. Welcome drinks at the AVEO bar at 5pm, followed by dinner at your leisure. We are just getting started.
Day 2: Monarch Beach Golf Links
Enjoy an early morning swim or run down at the beach before heading to breakfast for around 8:30am. Then grab your clubs and stroll down to Monarch Beach Golf Links, design by the revered Robert Trent Jones Jr. Team briefing around 10am, followed by an 11am tee off with carts. After golf, enjoy a beer in the clubhouse before heading back to your room for a freshen up before dinner at Dana Point.
Day 3: Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club
After breakfast, we head out to the home course of Michael ‘Blockie’ Block, Arroyo Trabuco GC. Tee off around 10am. The private shuttle is approx 15-min drive each way. Arrive back at The Waldorf for around 4pm for a swim, sauna, hot tub and icy cold Tap In at Monarch Bay Beach Club. Dinner is at your leisure.
Day 4: Pelican Hill Ocean North Course
Today marks the first of the two Tom Fazio designed gems, Pelican Hill Ocean North Course. Stunning canyons, rolling terrain and ocean vistas. This course has it all. A 30-minute drive from our hotel, this will be a day for the ages. Aim to get back to the hotel for around 4pm for a sundowner at the pool followed by dinner at your leisure.
Day 5: Pelican Hill Ocean South Course
Pelican Hill Ocean South Course. A 25 minute drive to the golf course after breakfast, this is the day the winning team will be holding the Dormie Challenger Belt (just like at The Open some 400 years ago). Awards dinner and prize-giving will take place at the Monarch Bay Beach Club, sponsored by Dormie and The Pure Golfer.
Day 6: Strawberry Farms Golf Club
Today we play Strawberry Farms Golf Course, a scenic municipal golf course that winds its way through canyons and wetlands. A true test of golf in a laid back setting. Heading over to the golf course after breakfast, this is the day the winning team will be holding the Dormie Challenger Belt (just like at The Open some 400 years ago). Awards dinner and prize-giving will take place at the Monarch Bay Beach Club, sponsored by Dormie and The Pure Golfer.
Day 7: Departure Day
Breakfast, check out and say goodbye to your new mates. A private transfer to John Wayne Airport for your onwards journey. Once we reach capacity of bookings, we will reach out to everyone to agree on the most convenient departure time.
Accommodation
The Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club is a luxury oceanfront resort in Dana Point, Southern California. Set on a 150-foot bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, it is known for its private beach club, championship golf course, award-winning spa, multiple pools, and upscale dining. The resort is a AAA Five-Diamond property and sits on 175 acres along the Orange County coastline. An epic place to base ourselves for a week to remember.

A 50% non refundable deposit is required to lock in your spot. The remaining balance is due by January 8th, 2026.
Absolutely. We encourage it. A big part of this experience is meeting new people who love golf and travel.
Yes. We cap handicaps for men at 18 and 28 for women to ensure a fair playing experience for everyone involved. Your active GHIN, PGA Canada or other accredited handicap system required.
If you have another person or twosome, please submit your request directly after registration with gavin@thepuregolfer.com
Yes. We will be in a team of two. Best combined stableford points at the end of each day and a total aggregate score with prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Option for player rotation if required.
